San Francisco Giants’ Evan Longoria set to have finger surgery, miss Opening Day

by

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria is scheduled for surgical procedure Tuesday to restore a ligament in his proper index finger.

The group introduced Monday evening that the veteran infielder would bear the process in Los Angeles, carried out by Dr. Steven Shin. A timeline for his return is not instantly clear as a result of Longoria should maintain the finger immobilized for not less than 10 days after surgical procedure earlier than he’s re-evaluated.

Longoria, 36, was restricted to 81 video games final season for the 107-win NL West champions due to a sprained left shoulder he injured July 5 in a collision with shortstop Brandon Crawford.

Longoria batted .261 with 13 homers and 46 RBI. San Francisco traded for Kris Bryant throughout the season to present the membership depth at third base given Longoria’s absence. Bryant signed with Colorado this offseason.
