No. 78 Live Fast Motorsports team to serve pass-through penalty at COTA


AUSTIN, Texas — NASCAR officers cited 5 Cup Sequence groups for a number of failures in Friday’s pre-qualifying inspection on the Circuit of The Americas.

The No. 78 Dwell Quick Motorsports Ford, pushed this week by Andy Lally, failed inspection 3 times and will be unable to take part in Saturday’s Busch Mild Pole Qualifying (11 a.m. ET, FS1). Lally may even need to make a pass-through penalty on pit highway after the inexperienced flag to Sunday’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix (3:30 p.m. ET, FOX, PRN, SiriusXM) and had a crew member (engineer) ejected.

4 groups failed inspection twice earlier than the storage closed Friday night, and every will likely be down a crew member for the weekend. These groups, plus the kind of crewmember ejected, are:

No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet for driver Josh Bilicki (race engineer)

The Nos. 6 , 50, 66 and 77 groups every handed inspection on their third makes an attempt. The No. 78 crew handed on its fourth strive throughout Saturday morning inspection.
